Crossfades, clip effects and envelopes

Blend one clip into the next, give a single clip its own effects, and shape its volume over time.

Where it is

The Clip menu · Clip › Clip Effects… · Clip › Clip envelopes… · Clip › Clip Properties…

What you can do

  • To crossfade, select a short range across the join between two clips and choose Linear or Equal Power Crossfade from the Clip menu. Adjust Crossfade…, or the crossfade's own handles, change its start, end and shape.
  • Both clips need some unused audio around the join; if they don't, OmaAudio says why the crossfade can't be made.
  • Clip › Clip Effects… gives one clip its own effects. They process the clip before its level, fades and envelopes, and before the track's effects.
  • Clip effects travel with the clip: split it and the pieces share them; move or copy it and they go too. The panel says Ready once the effected sound is prepared.
  • Bake into audio replaces a piece's audio with its effected sound, for repairs that need real samples.
  • Clip › Clip envelopes… shapes one clip's volume or stereo balance over time: double-click the graph to add points, drag them to shape it. Linear, Hold or Smooth between points.
  • For a shaped fade, Clip Properties… › Replace fades: Linear or Smooth, and Curve % to bend it.
