The video reference

Edit sound against its picture: import a video, place it on the timeline, step through it a frame at a time.

Where it is

File › Import Video Reference… · the Video tab in the right-hand panel

What you can do

  • One reference video per project. It plays in the Video tab and follows the playhead. Its own sound isn't imported; add an audio file for that.
  • Starts at places the video's beginning on the timeline; At playhead puts it at the playhead; Place by timecode uses the video's starting timecode.
  • Alt+, and Alt+. step back and forward one picture frame.
  • Detach shows the picture in a window of its own. Replace… swaps in a different video; Relink… finds a file that has moved.
  • An AAF from your video editor brings its picture with it (see Opening and importing). Needs FFmpeg, which comes with OmaAudio.
