Install OmaFont

Guide / 01

Installing OmaFont

The install steps and the latest release are on GitHub. It installs like any other package, and no fonts are touched.

Where it is

A terminal · github.com/28allday/omafont-app

What you can do

  • Follow the install steps on GitHub (github.com/28allday/omafont-app#install). They always match the latest release.
  • Download the package from the latest release, then install it with sudo pacman -U and the file's name. pacman asks for your password once.
  • Open OmaFont from the app launcher: press Super + Space and type OmaFont. Font files also open in it from your file manager.
  • omafont ‑‑version says which version you have. Install a newer package the same way to update, then close and reopen OmaFont.
  • To remove it: sudo pacman -R omafont. Fonts you installed with it stay in ~/.local/share/fonts.

What it needs

Omarchy. Everything it needs (qt6-base, qt6-declarative, qt6-svg, fontconfig, libarchive and a desktop portal for the file chooser) is already part of Omarchy, or pacman adds it.

What OmaFont writes

~/.local/share/fonts/<Family>/The fonts you install, one folder for each family.
~/.config/omafont/library.jsonYour collections, smart collections, tags, stars and notes.
~/.config/omafont/omafont.confWindow settings: the view, the sort order, the sample text.
~/.config/fontconfig/conf.d/60-omafont-deactivated.confThe fonts you have deactivated. It is removed when nothing is deactivated.

Nothing outside your home folder is touched, and no password is needed for anything but installing the app itself.

Removing it

sudo pacman -R omafont

Fonts you installed with it stay where they are. To also forget your collections, tags and notes, and switch every deactivated font back on:

rm -rf ~/.config/omafont
rm -f ~/.config/fontconfig/conf.d/60-omafont-deactivated.conf
