Installing fonts
Drop a font, a folder or a downloaded archive on the window, check it, and install it. No password needed.
Where it is
Drop on the window · Install… in the toolbar · Ctrl+O · open a font file from the file manager
What you can do
- Drop a font file, a folder or an archive (zip, tar or 7z) anywhere on the window, or press Ctrl+O and choose one. Everything installable inside it is staged.
- Staged fonts are checked before anything is written. The Info pane lists every family and face, marks any with problems and says where they will go. Report… shows the full check.
- Packs often carry the same faces as both OTF and TTF. Choose one under Format; the two formats often disagree about names and are better not mixed.
- If a file is already installed, choose Replace, Skip, or Keep both (the new copy gets a -2 suffix).
- Press Install or Enter. Fonts land in ~/.local/share/fonts, one folder per family. Escape, or Clear, drops the stage instead.
- Apps already running see a new font once they restart. Some, such as DaVinci Resolve, read fonts only when they start.
