Looking at type
A specimen of one family, every family as a grid or a list, or every character a font has.
Where it is
The view buttons in the toolbar · Ctrl+1 to Ctrl+5
What you can do
- Specimen (Ctrl+1) shows the family's name at display size, the sample line at five sizes and the font's character set.
- The sample line is yours to change: click it and type the words you will set. View ▸ Reset the sample text puts it back.
- The slider in the toolbar, or Ctrl+plus and Ctrl+minus, makes the type bigger or smaller. Ctrl+0 is actual size.
- Grid (Ctrl+2) shows every family in the list as a card with a big Ag in its own face. Click a card to select the family; double-click it to open its specimen.
- List (Ctrl+3) is a table: family, styles, kind, foundry, where it lives and its tags. Double-click a row to open its specimen.
- Repertoire (Ctrl+4) shows every character the face covers, with its code point. Click one to add it to the sample line.
- Older font packs name every weight as its own family. OmaFont folds them into one family with all its styles; turn that off under View ▸ Group weights into one family.
