Trash and undo
Delete to the Trash, bring things back, and empty the Trash when you're sure.
Where it is
Delete · Trash in the sidebar · Ctrl+Z
What you can do
- Delete moves what's selected to the Trash. Ctrl+Z brings it straight back.
- Open Trash in the sidebar, right-click, and choose Restore from Trash to put things back where they came from.
- Empty Trash… (in the Trash, or on the Trash row's right-click menu) deletes everything in it for good. Omanta asks first.
- Shift+Delete deletes permanently, without the Trash, after asking. Preferences can add Delete Permanently to the right-click menu.
- Undo covers new folders, renames, trashing, restoring, copies, moves, compressing and extracting. Deleting permanently and emptying the Trash can't be undone.
- Drop files on Trash in the sidebar to trash them.
