Copy only the adjustments the other photos need

Copy Settings transfers chosen groups from an edited source photo. Paste applies those same values to selected destinations. Sync is a convenient single-dialog route when the source and targets are already selected together. Neither workflow estimates a different correction for every frame; Image Match does that separate analysis.

Copy and paste

  1. In Library or the Develop filmstrip, choose the edited source. Right-click it and choose Copy Settings…, or press Ctrl+Alt+C.
  2. Use None if you want to make a narrow selection, then tick the required groups. For a shoot with similar light, Basic tone and colour may be useful; crop, retouch and masks often need individual treatment.
  3. Confirm Copy. The source is unchanged.
  4. Select destination photos with Ctrl-click or Shift-click. Right-click and choose Paste Settings, or use Ctrl+Alt+V.
  5. Review a representative bright, dark and differently framed photo, then check the rest before export. Groups you left unticked retain their existing settings.

A copied exposure is the same numerical exposure setting on each destination. It is not a guarantee that every image will have the same brightness. Different camera settings, light and composition can require a further correction.

Sync one selected batch

Select the source and destinations together, then right-click the intended source and choose Sync Settings…, or use Ctrl+Alt+S with the appropriate current photo. Read the source and destination information in the dialog before applying. Pick groups and choose Sync.

These actions operate on catalog photos. If you are still in Browse before importing, return to Library. A dim command can mean the necessary catalog selection or editable source is missing.

Understand what travels

Choice Why to include it What to inspect afterwards
Tone and colour groups Share an established correction or look Exposure differences and mixed lighting
Crop and geometry Share framing in a stable setup Orientation, aspect ratio and subject placement
Local masks Share a reusable local treatment Shapes are frame-relative and do not track a moving subject
Retouch Reuse a suitable repair setting where appropriate The source and destination texture can differ
Imported profiles, LUTs or external masks Keep a particular rendering or restriction Referenced assets must remain available

For one local mask only, use Ctrl+Shift+C / V in Shapes & overlay. That is different from the photo-wide Ctrl+Alt+C / V workflow. For reusable looks, save a preset containing only the groups it should carry. Keep snapshots or variants of valuable edits before broad changes you may want to compare later.

Copy or sync?

Copy and Paste work well when you select the source first and the destinations afterwards. Sync works well when the source and the rest of the batch are already selected together. Right-click the source photo before opening Sync.

Select only the groups you need. Exposure, white balance, crop and mask placement often need a separate check on every frame.
