Collections
Group families by hand for a project, or with rules that keep the group up to date for you.
Where it is
The Collections menu · the + beside Collections in the sidebar · the Info pane
What you can do
- A collection is a set of families you choose. Press the + beside Collections in the sidebar and name it; the family you have selected goes in first. Add more from the Info pane's Collections section or Font ▸ Add to collection.
- Right-click a collection to activate or deactivate everything in it, so a project's fonts are the only ones switched on while you work.
- Export… copies a collection's font files to a folder, one subfolder for each family, to hand to someone else.
- A smart collection is a set of rules: family name, designer, kind, language, writing system, tag, design class, trait, location, weight and more, each with contains, begins with, ends with, is or is not. Match all of them or any. Note that Sans-serif contains the word serif: use is for a design class.
- A smart collection keeps itself up to date: a font installed tomorrow that fits the rules appears in it. Double-click one to change its rules.
- Deleting a collection asks first and never touches the fonts in it.
