Duplicates and tidying up
Find the same font installed twice, OTF and TTF copies side by side, and files that fail their checks, and settle each one.
Where it is
Duplicates in the sidebar · File ▸ Tidy up… · Ctrl+Shift+T
What you can do
- The same family and style in two files is a duplicate: only one copy is used, and nobody chose which. Duplicates in the sidebar lists the families affected and the Info pane marks the faces.
- Deactivate or remove one copy to settle a duplicate.
- Tidy up (Ctrl+Shift+T) lists what is worth cleaning, each with its fix: the same styles as both OTF and TTF (keep one format), static weights beside a variable font (keep the variable font), files that fail validation, fonts of yours that set no Latin text, and how much room the language fonts take.
- Show selects that family so you can look before you act.
- Package fonts are only ever deactivated. Anything that would delete your own files asks first and lists them.
