Compress and extract
Make zip, tar.xz and 7z archives, with or without a password, and unpack them.
Where it is
Right-click, Compress… · right-click an archive, Extract Here or Extract to…
What you can do
- Compress… packs what's selected into one archive: ZIP (works everywhere), TAR (.tar.xz, smaller, Linux and Mac), 7Z, or Encrypted ZIP with a password.
- Extract Here unpacks an archive beside it. One top-level item arrives as itself; several arrive in a folder named after the archive. Nothing is overwritten.
- Extract to… lets you choose the folder first.
- Password-protected archives ask for the password.
- Ctrl+Z removes what was extracted, but never anything you've changed since.
- Once Omanta is your file manager, double-clicking an archive extracts it.
